During the 2021-22 winter season, Charity Crossing had the opportunity to partner with numerous new castle county libraries, schools, and other developments to host their annual socks drive throughout Delaware and Pennsylvania.
Throughout this drive, volunteers emerged as leaders to develop networking, time-management and gained many other valuable skills to help bring about unity amongst the community to help the less fortunate citizens throughout this winter season. Each week, the volunteers checked their assigned library locations to see if there are any donations of socks, gloves, etc. winter items. Next, they sorted through the new vs items that can be discarded to then donate to people throughout the community. The volunteers brought the items to weekly serves from Charity Crossing such as the Front Street, Rose Hill, MOT Center, Hicks Center serves, as well as save them for other upcoming events for Charity Crossing.
The drive ran from December 1st to January 15th supervised and regulated by one of our youth leaders, Kirti Daga, and with the help of numerous Charity Crossing volunteers, they ended up donating over 1,000 pairs of socks, helping more people than imaginable stay warm, especially with the rise of COVID cases throughout this holiday season in our community.
